ARTIST PROFILE

My work is centred around the ephemeral quality of nature.

I am intrigued by its transcience and conversely, its permanence, resilience and omnipresence. 

In a world where we are increasingly technologically bound, I like to portray the joy and hope that nature can give us;

a captured moment, a bird perched on a branch or a flower in full bloom.

My interest in the duality of life is reflected in my techniques. The layering of paint, drips and splashes that evoke a sense of time passing and reveal the history of the painting.

Nature and wildlife are an integral part of my practise and I draw upon influences such as animals, flora, botanica, zoological drawings and floral wallpaper.

My practise has also been influenced by my childhood in the Gloucestershire countryside and my surroundings now, in Stroud.
